B1 Tryouts in the USA

And since our coaches were in Fort Myers, Florida for the B1 Camp, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to see the talent performing Tryouts. So, our B1 Coaches carried out some trials in order to prepare for the upcoming season. In fact, about more than 100 players were expected to attend these trials to try and get a spot in the B1 Academy USA.

As expected, the number of talented youngsters that came to the tryouts was significant. It was planned to happen between Monday 2nd and Wednesday 4th but due to heavy rain and lightning warning, the B1 Coaches tried to squeeze most of the trial process on Monday. The players that were attending the tryouts were between 9 and 17 years old and both Boys and Girls.

Moreover, all the players were separated by categories and were challenged with different types of exercises. For over two hours, the players went through passing drills, some rondos, specific possession, and position exercises that would challenge both their physical and psychological abilities.

At the end of the tryouts, the coaches divided the groups in order to have short matches where they could see the development and qualities of each of the players.

Each local B1 Coach trained their respective category while Marc Fortuny and Eric Bertran (B1 Spain) were supervising each station one by one. More than that, they were analyzing and observing each player and creating an evaluation that would then be compared with the evaluation of all the other Coaches.

Indeed, at the end of the day, all the Coaches reunited and compared notes on the players that stood out during the entire trial. An assessment of all the players was then done, and all the B1 Coaches agreed on a set of players that were of interest to the Academy.

Even though the trials will still go on in the coming weeks without the Spanish Coaches, it is always interesting when they are able to attend such practices. They were able to bring the Spanish B1 Methodology and guide the players to try and make a direct and indirect impact.

We are really delighted with the result of the Tryouts and to witness the commitment of all the players and Coaches involved!
